On the Road

Here we are, traveling America's highways, Willie and Patsy making up the oh-so-appropriate soundtrack accompanying the desert views, with interspersed modern takes on road trip tunes, like Edward Sharpe. We roll the windows down on the two-lane roads, when we are taking our time, and I've taken to resting my head on my arms out the window to take in the dry desert or cool mountain air, to feel the sun warming my summer skin. We find ourselves smiling, smiling for the air and the sun and the scents and the songs, for pure relief at times that our dream has come true, that we're really out west, that our senses are being engaged with things we've never known before.
